Trans
World 88-91 was a solo drive over three continents through 44 counties.
It began as a fact finding mission on the health of our planet
and its people.
David Robertson sold his house in the United Kingdom to buy a vehicle
to drive 92,000 kilometers from London to Cape Town via The Netherlands,
Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Algeria, Niger, Burkino Faso,
Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central Africa
Republic (CAR), Zaire, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia,
Zimbabwe Botswana and South Africa. His vehicle was shipped to
the States and his name put up in lights in Times Square, New York
to bring attention to malaria as the people's greatest health threat
and deforestation as our planet's biggest health threat. It soon
became apparent that the logging of tropical rain forest (contributing
to global warming) and the spread of malaria are closely linked.
